Academy 4 has retained Mackenzie Eason to help with the recruitment of their Advancement/ Fundraising Manager responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing, and directing of Academy 4’s fundraising including major gifts, grants, special events, and other fundraising campaigns in the Greater Dallas area. Reporting to and working in conjunction with Academy 4’s Development Director, this is a new position created in response to the expansion of Academy 4 programs in schools of new geographic areas for the organization. They envision that the new Advancement/ Fundraising Manager will be the front-facing representative of Academy 4 in the Dallas region to spread its mission and garner generous contributions from individual donors, corporate donors, and foundation grants.
Academy 4 is a leadership mentoring program for 4th grade students. Once a month, students experience a caring relationship with a trustworthy adult while learning practical leadership skills to use now, throughout their school years, and beyond. Academy 4 connects churches to schools and communities, providing a mentor to every 4th grader in the economically disadvantaged schools they serve. It is their belief that mentoring is the most effective tool to provide children with a greater sense of self-worth, a positive view of the future, increased engagement in school, and encouragement for greater academic achievement.

Experience and Skills Qualifications:
= A bachelor’s degree.
= 2-5 years of experience in professional fundraising or related field
= Be professionally networked in the fundraising community. Professional education and/or certification is a plus.
= Have knowledge and experience in fundraising techniques, particularly major gift fundraising.
= Must embrace the mission of Academy 4 to connect churches to schools and their communities to mentor 4th graders in leadership.
= Strong writing skills.
= Outstanding interpersonal skills; skills to work with and motivate staff and volunteers.
= Have the desire and ability to get out of the office and build external relationships, initiating donor visits and fundraising asks
= Be organized and exhibit “follow through” on tasks and goals.
= Display a positive attitude, show love and compassion for people and the community, demonstrate versatility in communication, exhibit self-confidence, possess common sense, and listen actively.
The Advancement/ Fundraising Manager will assist the Director of Development by identifying and pursuing funding from a variety of sources, participating in fundraising campaigns and events, and researching and preparing grant proposals in the Greater Dallas Metroplex. The A/F Manager will help to diversify donors and revenue streams and plan events and marketing campaigns that cultivate the resources necessary to support the organization’s vision.
While the position is mostly remote, it is expected that they will secure and conduct face-to-face meetings existing and potential donors. The A/F Manager will be the main point of contact for all donation, grants, and fundraising events and activities in the Dallas region. A key function of this is donor development. This requires creating and maintaining a database of potential, current, and past donors to produce customized lists for different activities, focusing on people who are likely to attend events, individual donors, association lists, corporate donors, and foundations that provide grants. In addition to annual fund programs including mailings and annual fundraising drives, they will also assist the Director of Development with growing a major gifts program including identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major donors.
Duties & Responsibilities:
= Research, identify, and proactively contact prospective donors in the Greater Dallas area.
= Ongoing communication and meetings with existing donors to keep them informed and engaged.
= Research previous fundraising efforts by studying literature and mailings available from government funding sources, private foundations, and other generous contributors.
= Assist the Director of Development in all aspects of grant seeking including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements.
= Assists with planning and coordination of public fundraising events and campaigns to solicit donors.
= Maintain database and records tracking of donor information.
= Creating print, electronic, and social media marketing materials and developing promotional activities with other organizations and corporations to support fundraising activities and solicit donations.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate we are seeking to fill this position is a motivated, goal-driven self-starter that has a passion for children, philanthropic fundraising, and can sell a vision that appeals to potential and existing donor giving. Being a good salesperson or a good marketer may be helpful in fundraising, but there is far more to this role than sales and marketing. The ideal candidate will preferably have demonstrated success in developing fundraising programs, recruiting donors and volunteers, and encouraging support through promotional activities.
To be successful in this role, the best candidate will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, plus strong leadership qualities. Ultimately, a top-notch A/F Manager will be able to perform under pressure, possessing exceptional organizational and presentation skills.
