The primary purpose of the Resource Development Manager role is to oversee NCL's development program and generate revenue support for the organization's mission, events, and programs. This role, which supervises one employee and works with leadership volunteers, involves developing and implementing strategies for securing revenue from diverse sources such as individual and major gifts, event sponsorships and underwriting, and program funding as well as building donor and supporter relationships to nurture lifetime giving.

Responsibilities

Management and Program Administration

  • Supervise the Resource Development Specialist and set annual goals and revenue objectives for that position.
  • Actively participate in the leadership of the Marketing and Communications Department, leveraging the individual subject matter expertise and skills of the team to accomplish goals.
  • Working with Marketing and Communication team members, develop and manage annual giving program, including but not limited to web-based fundraising and online auctions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in the organization's donor management system (Salesforce), including contacts, communications, agreements, and financial contributions.
  • In partnership with Finance and Administrative, oversee the donor management system and gift acknowledgement process.

Relationship Building and Volunteer Partnership

  • Identify and cultivate relationships with key community leaders and corporate partners effectively. Deliver presentations to local community groups and organizations, and represent NCL, Inc. at functions when required.
  • Collaborate with chapters, organizations, and groups within the Texas community as well as across the NCL, Inc. national footprint to build partnerships and enhance revenue generation.
  • Partner with key leadership volunteers and board members to identify, generate, and steward donors and sponsors.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor volunteer fundraising committee members, whether through initiative fundraising, general development, or sponsorships.

Donor Development and Individual Giving

  • Build and grow a portfolio of individual donors, using relationship building skills to grow both the annual and major giving expertise of the organization. Focus on donor retention.
  • Fully integrate and use donor moves management to enhance a culture of philanthropy.
  • Solicit individual donors for both unrestricted and restricted contributions, creating individual proposals and stewardship plans for each donor.
  • Build a donor recognition strategy and grow a culture of gratitude through donor appreciation. Leverage key staff and board members as part of the recognition strategy and program.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of targeted major giving campaigns.

Sponsorships and Grants

  • Working with the Resource Development Specialist, secure event sponsorships and underwriting, ensuring the financial success and sustainability of events.
  • Create and present sponsorship proposals to secure financial and in-kind support for events, highlighting the benefits and ROI of their involvement.
  • Form sustainable relationships with potential and existing sponsors and donors to discuss sponsorship and giving plans. Explore opportunities for increased support, employing a variety of fundraising techniques that include face-to-face solicitations, fundraising events, calling sessions, and written communications. (Travel may be required)
  • Working with the Resource Development Specialist and key volunteers, develop personalized cultivation and solicitation strategies for event sponsorships, creating compelling sponsorship and underwriting proposals that clearly outline the benefits and value of supporting the event.
  • Negotiate terms of sponsorship and gift agreements. Working with senior staff, draft and finalize sponsorship and gift agreements, ensuring all terms and conditions are clearly outlined and delivered as per the agreement.
  • Research prospective funders and draft grant proposals for specific programs and initiatives of NCL.
Minimum Qualifications:

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work independently and act professionally on behalf of the brand
  • Proven ability to secure sponsorships and donations
  • Must be able to solicit sponsorships and financial support either in a face-to-face setting, potentially requiring travel, or by Zoom
  • Excellent sales and negotiation skills for presenting proposals and/or soliciting donations, securing support and finalizing agreements.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for building and maintaining relationships with sponsors, donors, community leaders, and corporate partners.
  • Team collaboration skills to work effectively with chapters, organizations, and community groups.
  • Must understand fundraising, sponsorship, and development processes.
  • Must handle confidential information and maintain donor confidentiality, abiding by the Association of Fundraising Professionals' Donor Bill of Rights
  • Attention to details and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using CRM systems (experience with Salesforce and/or Account Engagement/Pardot preferred).

Education and Experience Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required
  • At least 3 years' work experience in fundraising and supervision required
  • Professional experience in nonprofit role preferred
  • Expertise in Salesforce; proficiency with donor management technology desired
  • Driver's License required
