Position Summary:
The Senior Director, Planned and Major Gifts represents the Memorial Hermann Foundation across the organization and in the community. The Senior Director, Planned and Major Gifts is responsible for creating, coordinating and executive major fundraising programs for Memorial Hermann Foundation. S/he provides leadership and direction, works collaborativey with Foundation and System staff and physicians to advance philanthrophic support for the Memorial Hermann Foundation. The Senior Director, Major Gifts manages a significant portfolio of major donors and prospects, including planned gift donors and estates. In addition, the Senior Director, Planned and Major Gifts will serve as a resource to the rest of the Major Gifts team as planned gifts are considered and realized in other directors’ This individual must have the ability to persuade and motivate others, manage multiple relationships and priorities and to interact with other gift officers, high-profile donors, senior management, Board members, physicians and volunteers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
 Working with the CEO of the Foundation and AVP, Major Gifts, establishs measurable, achievable, and aspirational goals to deliver results in all assigned areas.
 Devises and implements strategies for specialized campaign plans including capital campaigns and directed fundraising. Develops and coordinates materials and functions as required.
 Develops and leads planned gift program strategy for the Foundation.
 Conducts periodic team trainings to educate Foundation staff on planned giving tools and changes related to new laws and policies.
 Stays abreast of planned giving laws, trends and best-practices.
 Qualifies and manages a major gifts portfolio of high-capacity, high-profile donors. Identifies, cultivates and solicits primarily gifts of $100,000 or greater from individuals, foundations and corporations.
 Cultivates and stewards complex gifts.
 Coordinates Charitable Gift Annuity program with involved departments across the Memorial Hermann System.
 Particpates in and supports the fundraising initiaties of the Foundation, including special events, the employee campaign and donor engagement activities.
 Selects, mentors, trains, supervises, evaluates and counsels employees as appropriate.
 Colloborates across the Foundation team on cultivation, solicitation, stewardship and gift officer portfolios. Works closely with the advancement services team on necessary data, gift processing and acknowledgement.
 Promotes indivduals professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education.
 Supports foundation-based goals that contribute to the success of the Foundation and Memorial Hermann.
 Manages other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills
 10+ years of professional experience with a minimum of five years of progressively responsibe experience in major gift fundraising, preferable in the health care and/or non-for-profit arena.
 5+ years professional experience in planned giving with extensive, hands-on knowledge of planned giving tools, successful strategies, gifts of property, gifts of stock and estate adminstration.
 Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skils to interact with senior management, board members and other high leel volunteers,donors, physicans and prospects.
 Demonstrated ability in thinking strategically to acquire, engage, upgrade, and steward donors.
 Evidence of effectiveness in building and sustaining relationships with donors, staff, partners and physicans.
 Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop staff.
 Goal oriented with strong planning, project management and problem-solving skills and the ability to execute on multiple projects.
