Minimum Qualifications:

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required. Experience working in the non-profit sector with proven five and six-figure fundraising/development/grant writing experience is strongly desired. Proficiency with all Microsoft applications is a must.

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to work in a confidential environment
  • Familiar with Apple Computer systems and QuickBooks a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Possess poise and effective interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable in interacting with a wide variety of people
  • Be a self-starter, organized, and detail-oriented
  • Ability to multi-task and work well within deadlines/under pressure
  • Ability to lead and instruct volunteers to carry out their duties
  • Understanding of marketing towards a fundraising/sales objective

Summary of Position

Leukemia Texas is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Director of Program Development to take our Programs to the next level. This Director is responsible for managing and growing the Patient Aid and Research Program while generating revenue for these programs through Major Gifts and Grant Writing.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Advise leukemia patients, medical staff and donors about Patient Aid Program
  • With the CEO, research, identify, and solicit outside funding support for all Programs and meet/exceed aggressive annual fundraising goals
  • Respond to patient and donor inquiries/concerns and create positive solutions
  • Process patient aid applications, payment requests and denied funding
  • Recruit and manage/support program committees/meetings
  • Build long-lasting relationships with patient families and medical staff
  • Manage research grant awarding process annually
  • With staff, create media/press releases about patient aid and research stories
  • With staff, assist with website, social media and donor databases
  • Other tasks as assigned
