The Development Campaign Grants and Research Specialist is responsible for campaign-related grant research, tracking, proposals, and reports in accordance with campaign goals and objectives as well as identifying, researching and analyzing prospects for major gift cultivation and solicitation. This position will identify and qualify campaign prospects who have the propensity and capacity to support the work of PPGT. Using a moves management mode, the Development Campaign Grants and Research Specialist will work with major gift staff to help analyze and facilitate the cultivation and solicitation of top prospects. Ensures productivity expectations, customer service and compliance standards are maintained. Abides by the organization’s mission in performing job duties. Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to quality healthcare and excellent customer service.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Development Campaign Grants and Research Specialist include (please refer to online posting at www.ppgreatertx.org/jobs for a complete job description):

=         Develops grant and major gift proposals to obtain campaign-related funds for ongoing or new programs and for special projects in coordination with the Senior Director of Major Gifts.

=         Researches and tracks proposal requirements and submission deadlines.

=         Prepares, coordinates, assembles, and/or delivers proposals, grant applications and renewals for submission.

=         Identifies and researches related grant sources of funding.

=         Interacts and communicates with department and senior management, health services, and government or foundation representatives during the proposal design, development and implementation phases.

=         Assists Development staff in researching background information, statistical, and analytical information to support proposals.

=         Maintains a tracking system of proposals, follows up to provide additional information as required by funding sources and report regularly to the Senior Director of Major Gifts.

=         Works in coordination with PPGT’s Grants Specialist and assists in needs of grants team as needed.

=         Provide high-level research on individuals, corporations, and foundations using a wide variety of biographical, organizational and financial sources, including online database services, Internet websites, library and government sources and other external repositories of public information.

=         Analyze and synthesize accumulated information to assess financial capacity, philanthropic tendencies, giving propensity and linkages to our work.

=         Writing: Compose documents (profiles, biographies, project summaries) using grammar and content appropriate to specific audiences. Extract and communicate key information, which directs cultivation and solicitation strategies. Prospect knowledge, including ratings, interests and linkages acquired through research is preserved and maintained in a complex database system that is accessible to fundraising staff and used to develop future cultivation strategies.

=         Proactively and independently plans and executes creative strategies to identify sources of major gift ($10,000+) private support using creative research techniques and electronic searching methodologies to ensure that campaign wide fundraising initiatives have sufficient prospects to meet fundraising goals.

=         Develops and executes strategies to ensure that newly identified prospects are presented to Senior Director of Major Gifts. Work with Senior Director of Major Gifts and development staff by serving as a liaison to their portfolio and on solicitation strategy formulation and information gathering through peer screenings. Interpret results and provide direction on the segmentation and management of large groups of prospects and donors identified through the electronic screening process.

=         Partners with staff to grow the pool of prospects through proactive research.

=         Seeks out the most effective research resources and systems from internal and external sources, while managing in-house information sources, reference materials, online services, news subscriptions, and prospect research files.

=         Works within the database to produce weekly, monthly, quarterly, and any other necessary reports as needed and maintains a tracking system of the prospect pipeline and reports it regularly to the Senior Director of Major Gifts.

=         Participates in Development staff meetings.

=         Complies with all grant reporting as required by funding sources.

=         Maintains current records in database, on network, and in paper files, including grant tracking and reporting.

=         Works closely with the Senior Director of Major Gifts and other departmental team members to ensure coordination with their respective fundraising efforts.

=         Uses development database and report writing software to retrieve data. May assist in preparing and evaluating grant program and reporting of program's progress to Board and executive leaders.

=         Builds effective and trustworthy relationships with funders, foundation trustees, staff and community leaders.

=         Assures compliance with the Board of Director’s governance policies on development as well as the standards established by the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

=         Assures that all fundraising materials and any communication with the public maintain the highest standards of integrity and honesty.

=         Serves as a role model for staff in quality of work, competence, standards of behavior, initiative, teamwork, and compliance with organization policies.

=         Maintains knowledge of abortion and family planning regulations and implements changes as necessary.

=         May represents the organization at meetings, as appropriate.

=         Has unrestricted access to client protected health information (PHI) for purposes of treatment, payment, and health care operation, specific to job duties. Use of client PHI is limited to information needed to perform the specified job function. Disclosure of any client information must be for purposes of treatment, payment or health care operation OR must be accompanied by an authorization for release. Development staff may have access to PHI limited for fundraising purposes.

=         Ensures achievement of agency goals, vision and mission.

=         Assists with other fundraising projects as requested.

=         Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

 

=         Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in lieu of education (8 years).

=         2 years of fundraising, grant writing, research writing, nonprofit, or related.

=         Must have excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project and Internet.

=         Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

=         Ability to write clear, structured, articulate written letters, contracts, reports and persuasive proposals.

=         Possess effective analytical skills.

=         Ability to find humor in day-to-day challenges while being focused on solutions.

=         Ability to pay attention to detail, to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously and to work under pressure.

=         Comfortable and knowledgeable with discussing topics relating to sexual and reproductive health.
